about

The first tune is a Planxty composed by Charlie, influenced by an old slow-air melody. It honours the great contribution to traditional music of the East Galway fiddle player and composer Paddy Fahey.
The second is a popular jig with the Ballinakill players of East Galway. We learned this version from accordion player Ned Fahy (son of Joe Cooley’s mentor Jim Fahy) from Derrawee in the Sliabh Aughty mountains. The tune is related to the popular three part jig “Tell Her I Am”.
