about

These slip-jigs can usually be heard paired together in many traditional music sessions. Maire Rua is a pipe tune composed in praise of the famous Maire Ruadh O’Brien of Leamanagh Castle, which is situated close to the Burren in County Clare. It is said that Hardiman the Fiddler honours the historian James Hardiman, author of “Irish Minstrely” (1831).
